(TLP:CLEAR) CISA’s Conflict Prevention Webinar Series – May and June 2026

TLP:CLEAR

Author: Alec Davison

Created: Thursday, April 16, 2026 - 12:45

Categories: Federal & State Resources, Physical Security, Security Preparedness

Summary: In today’s heightened threat environment, socio-political grievances, financial troubles, or other triggers can motivate individuals to violence and prompt them to target infrastructure workers or facilities. In an effort to reduce the risk of workplace violence, CISA provides free resources designed to equip employees with the necessary skills to effectively de-escalate hostile situations and contribute to violence prevention.

Analyst Note: Water and wastewater utilities frequently experience threats of harm directed against their staff and assets, which WaterISAC tracks in its Quarterly Water Sector Incident Summary reports. Importantly, past security incidents at utilities, which could have led to significant operational impacts, have been successfully de-escalated by staff, highlighting the importance of training employees in de-escalation and conflict prevention. Utility owners and operators are encouraged to review CISA’s De-Escalation Series for Critical Infrastructure Owners and Operators.

Additionally, in 2025, CISA began hosting a monthly webinar series on conflict prevention. The series consists of two webinars that occur at 1:30pm ET typically on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. (For registration information please see the flyers attached below).
