Half of the U.S. population has been affected by an extreme weather alert issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) since May, and currently nearly 42 million Americans are affected by such alerts. This is according to data from the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS), which tracks NWS alerts to show the link between climate change and worsening extreme weather events, such as wildfires, flooding, tropical storms, and extreme heat. |
