Each issue focuses on key security and resilience topics, including cybersecurity, physical security, and natural disasters.
The current threat environment continues to elevate operational risks for water and wastewater utilities across the all-hazards threat landscape, including cyber threats, physical security risks, and natural hazards. This issue examines the security challenges posed by third-party vendors and contractors, highlighting the potential risks they present to utility operations. It also details cyber and physical security threats facing the water sector stemming from the ongoing conflict with Iran. In addition, the issue features an interview with DC Water’s Director of Security, offering security best practices and insights into operational resilience.
The ISB is a joint effort by the EPA Office of National Security and WaterISAC, with support from the EPA Office of Water and the Water Sector Coordinating Council. It aims to raise awareness and promote security and preparedness across the water and wastewater sector.
