(TLP:CLEAR) CISA’s Conflict Prevention Webinar Series and Other Resources

Summary: In today’s heightened threat environment, socio-political grievances, financial troubles, or other triggers can motivate individuals to target infrastructure workers or facilities. To help mitigate potential violence, CISA offers a variety of free resources to educate employees with the skills they need to de-escalate hostile situations and help prevent violence.  

Analyst Note: Last month, CISA initiated a new monthly webinar series on conflict prevention. The series consists of two webinars that will occur at 1:30pm ET on the second and fourth Wednesdays of every month. Both webinars will re-occur on a monthly basis. The two new webinars are briefly described below (for more information and for registration information please see the flyer attached below).

Introduction to Conflict Prevention Techniques and Resources

• Date: May 14, 2025
• Time: 1:30 PM ET
• During this 30-minute webinar attendees will receive a brief introduction to CISA’s Conflict Prevention techniques and resources which can be used to enhance the safety and security of people, facilities, and communities by empowering users to prevent incidents of targeted violence. 

Conflict Prevention Strategies to Deter Acts of Targeted Violence

• Date: May 28, 2025
• Time: 1:30PM ET 
• During this 60-minute webinar attendees will become familiar with the principles of conflict prevention and gain a more in-depth understanding of effective de-escalation approaches which can be used to help diffuse a volatile situation. 

Water and wastewater utilities frequently experience threats of harm directed against their staff and assets, which WaterISAC tracks in its Quarterly Water Sector Incident Summary reports, highlighting the importance of training employees on de-escalation and conflict prevention. Utility owners and operators are encouraged to review CISA’s De-Escalation Series for Critical Infrastructure Owners and Operators.
