(TLP:CLEAR) CISA Announces Revised Town Hall Schedule to Engage with Stakeholders on Cyber Incident Reporting for Critical Infrastructure
Created: Thursday, May 28, 2026 - 15:54
Categories: Cybersecurity, Federal & State Resources, Security Preparedness
Summary: On May 26, 2026, CISA announced a revised schedule of town hall meetings for the CIRCIA rulemaking in the Federal Register. CISA is hosting these town halls to allow external stakeholders, including water and wastewater utility operators, a limited additional opportunity to provide input on refining the scope and burden of the CIRCIA Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that was published in the Federal Register on April 4, 2024.
Registration is required to attend a town hall meeting. CISA will accept registration for each town hall meeting until 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time two business days before the meeting.
The water and wastewater systems sector is included in the Critical Infrastructure Sectors Grouping A meeting, which will take place on June 16, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. ET.
Analyst Note: Implementation of CIRCIA is intended to improve CISA’s ability to use cybersecurity incident and ransomware payment information reported to the agency to identify patterns in real-time, fill critical information gaps, rapidly deploy resources to help entities that are suffering from cyber attacks, and inform others who could be affected. When information about cyber incidents is shared quickly, CISA can use this information to render assistance and provide warning to prevent other organizations from falling victim to a similar incident. This information can also help identify trends to protect the homeland.
