In its latest National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin, the Department of Homeland Security states the U.S. remains in a heightened threat environment. It acknowledges conditions have not changed significantly over the last year but observes a convergence of factors has increased the volatility, unpredictability, and complexity of the environment. One of these factors is continued calls for violence directed at critical infrastructure, especially those made by domestic violent extremists (DVEs).
