SANS has released its 2024 State of ICS/OT Cybersecurity report, which offers key insights and benchmarks for industrial cybersecurity programs worldwide through a survey of 530 professionals. Based on inputs from cyber professionals across multiple critical infrastructure sectors, it provides actionable guidance as to how organizations can manage industrial cyber risk effectively.

Key insights from the report include:

  • 26% of respondents are now utilizing cloud technologies for ICS/OT applications, a 15% increase from prior years.
  • 28% of organizations lack a dedicated ICS/OT incident response plan.
  • 51% of respondents do not hold any ICS/OT-specific certifications.
  • 10% of respondents are currently using AI in their ICS/OT security strategies.

The report encourages ICS/OT-related organizations to invest in workforce development and to begin building security programs capable of handling ICS-specific threat intelligence. Members are encouraged to read the full survey in order to gain a complete understanding of the current state of ICS/OT security. Read more at SecurityWeek.
