New Zealand’s CERT NZ Ransomware Resources – Updated October 7, 2021

The New Zealand Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ) published a new guide in its series How Ransomware Happens and How to Stop It. The recent guide provides detailed information on how threat actors steal and encrypt a victim’s data after gaining access to their system or network. The report offers potential indicators for observing a ransomware attack during the exfiltration stage as well as prevention and mitigation techniques. Members are encouraged to review the guide in pursuit of greater resilience against ransomware. Check out the new guide at CERT NZ.

The New Zealand Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT NZ) has released a guide on ransomware protection for businesses. The guide includes a pair of helpful diagrams that outline different ransomware attack pathways and illustrate where relevant security controls can work to protect or stop an attack. WaterISAC joins the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in encouraging users, administrators, and business leaders to review the guide for more information as well as recommended prevention and mitigation measures. CISA also reminds its partners of other ransomware prevention and mitigation resources, including the StopRansomware initiative and the CISA and MS-ISAC Ransomware Guide.
