The National Council of ISACs (NCI) recently released a document highlighting the organization’s position on the growing threat from Ransomware. The document emphasizes that NCI and its member ISACs have been closely monitoring ransomware for years. However, the document notes that “With the increasing number of incidents of ransomware, it is more important than ever that all enterprises take appropriate measures to protect themselves… [thus] businesses [need] to redouble their efforts at cyber hygiene.” Ransomware attacks can impact organizations of any size in any sector. There are steps organizations can implement to mitigate their risk and to better recover from attacks. These steps include ensuring devices are patched, end-user education, backing-up your data, engaging with colleagues, developing a response plan, segmenting your networks, and testing incident response plans. The document also provides additional resources companies can use to strengthen their cyber defenses. For the full statement, view the attachment below.
