Building Safety Month isn’t until recognized until May, but already it’s worth mentioning that the focus for one of its weeks is Water Safety. With this focus, which is for Week 3 (May 17 to 23), the event organizers seek to draw attention to the important role of clean water in building safety. The Water Safety, Week Three webpage includes information and resources regarding backflow prevention, winter water safety, codes, legionella, and more. The International Code Council organizes Building Safety Month and has selected “Prevent, Prepare, Protect. Building Codes Save.” for this year’s overall theme. The goal of this educational and interactive campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of building codes in ensuring safety in the spaces in which we live, work, and learn. Also of potential, special interest to WaterISAC’s members is Week 4, which focuses on Disaster Preparedness. Read more about this year’s Building Safety Month at Facility Executive.
