Created: Thursday, October 29, 2026 - 15:40
Categories: Cybersecurity, Security Preparedness
The below vulnerabilities have been identified by WaterISAC analysts as important for water and wastewater utilities to prioritize in their vulnerability management efforts. WaterISAC shares critical vulnerabilities that affect widely used products and may be under active exploitation. WaterISAC draws additional awareness in alerts and advisories when vulnerabilities are confirmed to be impacting, or have a high likelihood of impacting, water and wastewater utilities. Members are encouraged to regularly review these vulnerabilities, many of which are often included in CISA’s Known Exploited Vulnerabilities (KEV) Catalog.

NoMachine nxwebrunner Heap-based Buffer Overflow Remote Code Execution Vulnerability
CVSS: 9.8
CVEs: CVE-2026-114549
Description: This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected installations of NoMachine. Authentication is not required to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the web service, which listens on TCP port 4443 by default. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of the length of user-supplied data prior to copying it to a heap-based buffer. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the service account.

ISC BIND 9 Vulnerability
CVSS v3.1: 8.1
CVEs: CVE-2026-94300
Description: Replaying GSS-TSIG signed UDP messages can result in memory corruption in “`named`”. An attacker who can capture a previously signed UDP message can replay it while the negotiated TSIG key is still valid. By also sending crafted queries to a zone the attacker controls, the attacker may potentially achieve remote code execution. This issue affects BIND 9 versions 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.29, 9.21.0 through 9.21.26, 9.11.3-S1 through 9.18.50-S1, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.29-S1.

Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense Snort 3
CVSS v3.1: 5.8
CVEs: CVE-2026-20218
Description: A vulnerability in the Snort 3 Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) Decompression Engine of multiple Cisco products could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to cause the Snort 3 Detection Engine to restart unexpectedly, resulting in a denial of service (DoS) condition. This vulnerability is due to improper range checking when Snort 3 decompresses VBA data, which is user controlled. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted VBA data to the Snort 3 Detection Engine of a targeted device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to cause an overflow of stack data, which could result in a DoS condition.

Oracle Java SE Products
CVSS v3.1: 9.1
CVEs: CVE-2026-114820
Description: Vulnerability in the Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition product of Oracle Java SE (component: JSSE). Supported versions that are affected are Oracle Java SE: 8u511-b32, 8u511-perf-b32, 11.0.33.0.2, 17.0.21.0.2, 21.0.13.0.2, 25.0.5.0.2, 27.0.1.0.2; Oracle GraalVM for JDK: 17.0.21.0.2 and 21.0.13.0.2; Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition: 21.3.20.0.2. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via multiple protocols to compromise Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized creation, deletion or modification access to critical data or all Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition accessible data as well as unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Java SE, Oracle GraalVM for JDK, Oracle GraalVM Enterprise Edition accessible data. Note: This vulnerability can be exploited by using APIs in the specified Component, e.g., through a web service which supplies data to the APIs. This vulnerability also applies to Java deployments, typically in clients running sandboxed Java Web Start applications or sandboxed Java applets, that load and run untrusted code (e.g., code that comes from the internet) and rely on the Java sandbox for security.

Cisco Expressway
CVSS v3.1: 9.8
CVEs: CVE-2026-76466
Description: A vulnerability in the database service feature of Cisco Expressway Series could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker with network access to a Cisco Expressway device to execute arbitrary operating system commands as root. This vulnerability is due to the use of persistent cookies. Additionally, there is insufficient validation of client certificates when the TLS Verify Mode is set to Enabled for clustering, which means that client certificates are not validated. An attacker with possession of the cookies could exploit this vulnerability by connecting to the database service and invoking specific remote procedure call (RPC) commands. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary commands as root on the underlying operating system of an affected device. Note: Cisco Expressway Series refers to Cisco Expressway Core (Expressway-C) devices and Cisco Expressway Edge (Expressway-E) devices.
