Summary: WaterISAC is excited to announce the release of a new product, the “Insider Threat Management – Fact Sheet.” This fact sheet was developed by WaterISAC’s Physical Security and Resilience Advisory Committee specifically for water and wastewater utility owners and operators. Of course, insider threats are an enduring risk to the water and wastewater sector. Given that, an insider threat management program is essential for water and wastewater utilities aiming to strengthen their security and operational resilience.

To help water and wastewater utilities with strengthening their insider threat management policies, WaterISAC’s Physical Security and Resilience Advisory Committee formulated a series of best practices organized into five thematic sections. The report also includes free resources to help utilities start enhancing their insider threat management program today.

As we wrap up National Insider Threat Awareness Month (NITAM), a time dedicated to spreading awareness in government and industry about the risks posed by insider threats and the importance of insider threat mitigation programs, WaterISAC is sharing this product to encourage utilities to always be thinking about the risk insider threats can pose to an organization and the policies for mitigating that risk.
