Summary: WaterISAC and its Champion ThreatSTOP hosted a dedicated webinar on strengthening cyber resilience in the water sector on Wednesday, July 23. In the session, Dr. Paul Mockapetris, inventor of DNS and ThreatSTOP’s Chief Scientist, detailed the origin of ThreatSTOP and explained how the platform was purpose built to solve the systemic cybersecurity challenges facing critical infrastructure like the water sector. CEO Tom Byrnes highlighted the most common vulnerabilities they are seeing across water utilities today and why traditional protections often fail to address them.

The session closed with a real world perspective from Bryon Black, IT Manager at South Coast Water District, who shared why his team chose ThreatSTOP and the measurable benefits they have seen since implementing its solutions, including improved visibility, simplified operations, and stronger automated defense. For those who couldn’t attend or would like to see a recap, a recording of the webinar and slides are available below.
