Summary: Forescout Technologies recently released their 2024 Threat Report which looked back at 900 million attacks observed in the threat landscape of 2024, up 114 percent from last year’s 420 million attacks. The report includes key findings related to OT/ICS infrastructure and offers strategic recommendations for improved defense in 2025 in the recommended mitigation section.

Analyst Note: Attackers have increasingly been focusing on critical infrastructure targets, as the majority of incidents (57%) targeted critical infrastructure sectors. The total number of critical infrastructure incidents are up 10% since 2023. As the most affected service types are web applications and network infrastructure, recommended mitigations include effective asset management, employing an IoT/OT-aware DPI-capable monitoring solution for malicious behavior alerts, and focusing on automated risk mitigation across the enterprise, not just segmented networks.
