DHS Cybersecurity Strategy

On May 15, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) released its Cybersecurity Strategy, which outlines the Department’s approach to identifying and managing national cybersecurity risk. The Strategy consists of five pillars: Risk Identification; Vulnerability Reduction; Threat Reduction; Consequence Mitigation; and Enable Cybersecurity Outcomes. Each of these pillars is accompanied by one or more goals, which are themselves supported by objectives.

Potential Impacts of Climate Change on Water Supplies and Other Infrastructure in the Platte River Basin

DHS has prepared an Infrastructure Risk Assessment that evaluates how climate impacts water supplies in the Platte River basin and other critical infrastructure sectors. The Platte is a major river in Nebraska and is fed by tributaries from Wyoming and Colorado; it is a tributary of the Missouri River, which is itself a tributary of the Mississippi River. This Assessment describes the predicted impacts on the area from such phenomena as floods and droughts, and it presents some mitigation options for such events.

This guide, produced by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's National Cyber Security Division - Control Systems Security Program, aims to assists asset owners to maximise the return on their investment when commissioning assessments of their industrial control systems (ICS).
