DHS has prepared an Infrastructure Risk Assessment that evaluates how climate impacts water supplies in the Platte River basin and other critical infrastructure sectors. The Platte is a major river in Nebraska and is fed by tributaries from Wyoming and Colorado; it is a tributary of the Missouri River, which is itself a tributary of the Mississippi River. This Assessment describes the predicted impacts on the area from such phenomena as floods and droughts, and it presents some mitigation options for such events.
