EPA Updates Water Contaminant Information Tool (WCIT)

EPA has updated its Water Contaminant Information Tool (WCIT) and added a new contaminant profile. WCIT, which was created in 2005, is a secure, online database that provides support to the water sector in its emergency preparedness and response activities by offering information on contaminants of concern to the sector. The updated database implements a responsive design that improves mobile device accessibility.

WaterISAC Participating in New EPA-led Effort to Share Information on Critical Supply Chain Issues

To help inform its members and other sector stakeholders of critical supply chain issues, WaterISAC is participating in a new program set up by EPA that provides a forum for sharing and discussing this information. Organizations that report supply chain issues to WaterISAC have the option of contributing their information to this process, with WaterISAC’s normal information sharing protocols remaining in effect.

EPA Highlights Resources to Assist with Implementation of Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, including for Security and Climate Resilience

EPA recently published a Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Resources for Drinking Water webpage, which highlights resources designed to help states and water systems with the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) that was enacted late last year.

Proposed New Strategy for Defeating Harmful Algal Blooms

Every summer, algal blooms occur in major lakes and bays disrupting human activity and at times affecting drinking water supplies. Although a federal interagency working group is charged with helping manage the risks of harmful algal blooms, a June report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) concluded it has failed to establish a national program to address these issues.
