Hurricane Ian Impacts Critical Infrastructure in Florida, Forecast to Make Second Landfall in South Carolina Tomorrow

Hurricane Ian made landfall yesterday afternoon on Florida’s Gulf Coast as a Category 4 hurricane with maximum sustained winds of 150 mph. Ian also brought extensive flooding due to heavy rainfall and storm surge and has caused significant disruptions to critical infrastructure, including in the water and wastewater and energy sectors. Now a tropical storm, Ian is expected to make a second landfall in South Carolina tomorrow after moving out over the Atlantic Ocean later today where it will gain strength and become a hurricane again.
