As host of the Gate 15 podcast The Cybersecurity Evangelist, WaterISAC Director of Infrastructure Cyber Defense Jennifer Lyn Walker recently published an episode on romance scams. Jen provides a general security awareness perspective on this very pertinent, personal, and painful topic. Specifically, she highlights the social engineering component of romance scams, red flags that could indicate someone you know is caught in a romance scam, some common and practical steps to defeating romance and other types of social engineering based scams, and the importance of reporting romance scams. Jen’s previous podcasts have featured WaterISAC, other ISACs, and frequent discussions on current security awareness and cyber threat topics. WaterISAC is pleased to share Jen’s latest podcast and suggests members share with staff for greater awareness about this fraud technique that not only breaks bank accounts, but hearts too.
