Global Warming’s Impacts on the Global Water Cycle

Author: April Zupan

The Australian National University has published new research demonstrating how climate change is affecting the global water cycle. Researchers processed satellite data in record time with an automated data analysis and interpretation process to come to their conclusions. Important takeaways from the report include the fact that monsoon regions from India to Northern Australia are becoming wetter, parts of the Americas and Africa are becoming dryer, and heatwaves are increasing in severity and duration. Overall, the world is expected to get hotter and drier, creating resource issues for people, crops, and ecosystems, as well as increasing the intensity of forest fires.
