This week, FEMA updated its Resilience Analysis and Planning Tool (RAPT). RAPT is a free online planning tool that gives open access to powerful data and GIS mapping to help organizations and communities inform strategies for emergency preparedness, response, and recovery and understand their resilience needs. The latest update of RAPT includes new resilience indicators, the latest data from the U.S Census Bureau, and improved analysis tools.

RAPT allows users to combine layers of community resilience indicators, infrastructure locations, and hazard data to visualize, prioritize, and implement preparedness and resilience strategies. According to FEMA, “RAPT includes over 100 preloaded layers including updated community resilience indicators from peer-reviewed research, the most current census tract demographic data, new data layers on climate predictions and equity, analysis tools, and an improved user experience.” Access the updated tool at FEMA.

FEMA’s National Integration Center will host 60-minute training webinars on September 20 and 28 to provide additional background on the RAPT, conduct a live demonstration of RAPT’s capabilities, and answer questions. See the SRU’s Upcoming Events section for more information.
