FEMA Seeks Feedback on NIMS Documents

FEMA is seeking public feedback on several National Incident Management System (NIMS) documents that are that are intended to enhance interoperability and the effectiveness of mutual aid. Two of the documents are part of the National Qualification System (NQS) and include: NIMS NQS Supplemental Guide for Coaches and Evaluators, which provides processes, procedures, and tools to assist authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) develop and maintain coaching and evaluating programs as part of the larger qualification process; and NIMS NQS Supplemental Guide for Qualification Review Boards (QRBs), which provides basic processes and procedures to assist AHJs develop and maintain a QRB as part of the larger certification process. The other two documents consist of job titles/position qualifications and resource typing definitions for hazardous materials response. The deadline for feedback for the first set of documents is 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 4. FEMA is also convening a series of webinars on these documents (see the Upcoming Events section below). The deadline for the second set of documents is 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, March 28. NIMS is a key component of U.S. incident management efforts and enables organizations from across the country to work together during incidents of all kinds and sizes.
