EPA Water and Wastewater Sector Threat Briefing Next Tuesday

Next week, on Tuesday February 27, at 2 p.m. ET, EPA is hosting a free virtual webinar on physical security and cybersecurity threats to the water and wastewater sector. The briefing will be unclassified, and no clearance is required. WaterISAC staff, along with other federal partners, will be conducting the brief.

The two-hour briefing will provide an overview of information related to water and wastewater sector security threats and preparedness. It will cover cybersecurity threats to water infrastructure, including a discussion of potential threat actors and common tactics, techniques, and procedures. The briefing will also address physical security threats to the sector, with details on the threat environment and potential threat actors who could target critical infrastructure. The briefing will also cover what to do in the event of a cyber or physical intrusion. Lastly, briefers will highlight multiple water security and preparedness resources and services for utilites to take advantage of to enhance their security and resilience. The briefers include staff from WaterISAC, EPA, and the FBI. This briefing is intended for drinking water and wastewater owners and operators; state, local, tribal, and territorial drinking water and wastewater program personnel; water sector association and organization representatives; EPA regional personnel; and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies.

The briefing is being conducted virtually via Zoom. A personalized meeting link will be sent to all participants upon registration confirmation. The registration deadline is February 26. Participants can register at this link.
