The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced a new program for operational technology security managers in the energy sector to engage with cyber and national security experts across the government. Named the “OT Defender Fellowship,” participants will spend one year in the program to gain a greater understanding of the adversaries’ strategies and how U.S. government cyber operators defend the nation. The program aligns with recommendations from the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission (CSC). “My fellow Commissioners recognized what we at Southern Company have also long understood: Our national security depends on collaboration between the private sector and the government,” said CSC Commissioner and Chairman, President, and CEO of Southern Company Tom Fanning. “I have long supported efforts like the OT Defender Fellowship to provide opportunities for closer interaction between critical infrastructure providers and U.S. government cyber operators.”
