It’s no secret that small-medium cities, towns, and villages often struggle with cybersecurity despite their implementation of technology solutions. While not the first, nor the last, the incident that occurred in Oldsmar, Florida is a poignant example. Quite simply, cybersecurity is a cost of doing business or providing a critical service in today’s society that just can’t be ignored. Short of an apocalypse, the need for cybersecurity is not going away, regardless of funding and resource constraints.

To help municipalities tackle the continued rise in cyber attacks targeting of local governments, the National League of Cities (NLC) has partnered with NuHarbor, Tenable, and Splunk to provide a comprehensive offering that gives its member jurisdictions a flexible, scalable and customizable security resource. In its commitment to the public sector, the program provides subscribers with periodic situation reports summarizing malicious activity within their environments. In addition, if a cybersecurity incident occurs, NuHarbor will take the necessary steps to remediate the incident within the scope of the platform. The goal of this turnkey Managed Security and Vulnerability solution is designed to help the public sector do more with less to strengthen member organizations’ ability to defend themselves from the growing threat of ransomware and other cybersecurity attacks in spite of budget and resource challenges.
