Counterterrorism Security Advice

Author: Charles Egli

The government of the United Kingdom has published a reminder of the steps members of the public, including business owners, can take to help law enforcement officials keep communities safe. Many of these materials mirror similar document distributed by the U.S. government. For example, the UK’s Crowded Places Guidance corresponds to DHS’s Security of Soft Targets and Crowded Places – Resource Guide; the advice on looking our for individuals who could become involved in terrorism or extremism offers similar guidance to that in the Homegrown Violent Extremist Mobilization Indicators publication from the National Counterterrorism Center, the FBI, and DHS; and the “Run Hide Tell” advice is the UK’s version of active shooter response guidance, the U.S. approach being “Run, Hide, Fight,” as described in resources on DHS’s “Active Shooter Preparedness” webpage. Access the advice at GOV.UK.
