Categories: Federal & State Resources, General Security and Resilience
Summary: November is Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month. This awareness campaign highlights the importance of preparing for and adapting to changing conditions that can disrupt the essential services communities rely on. This month, CISA continues its enduring theme of Resolve to be Resilient.
Analyst Note: Investing in preparedness and operational resilience activities can help organizations mitigate operational risks and recover quickly from disruptions. According to CISA, this year’s Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month comes amid a heightened threat environment driven by major geopolitical shifts, rapid advances in artificial intelligence, and historic national events like Freedom 250.
Throughout the month, CISA will share four practices that help organizations stay ready.
- Know your most important systems and the outside services they depend on.
- Understand the risks that matter most.
- Make clear plans that guide response and recovery.
- Track progress and update plans based on real lessons learned.
CISA’s Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience Month Toolkit offers a number of resources to help you and your organization get involved and reduce risk.
WaterISAC also encourages water and wastewater utilities to consider taking advantage of the many free resources available from EPA. These resources fall under EPA’s Real Water Technical Assistance (RealWaterTA) Initiative, Strengthening Water Infrastructure for Tomorrow (SWIFT) Program, and Cybersecurity for the Water Sector resources.
