Recommendations from State, Local, and Tribal Leaders to the President on Preparing the U.S. for the Impacts of Climate Change

The State, Local, and Tribal Task Force on Climate Preparedness and Resilience has released a document of recommendations for how the Federal government can help prepare the U.S. for climate change. The formation of the Task Force was decreed in Executive Order 13653, Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change,which was released on November 1, 2013.

New Presidential Executive Order – Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change

On November 1, 2013 President Obama signed an Executive Order in which he called on Federal, State, local, tribal, private-sector, and non-profit sector stakeholders to improve preparedness for the effects of climate change, such as prolonged periods of excessively high temperatures, more heavy downpours, an increase in wildfires, more severe droughts, permafrost thawing, ocean acidification, and sea-level rise.
