The Argonne National Laboratory has made publicly available the report titled ComEd Climate Risk and Adaptation Outlook, Phase 1: Temperature, Heat Index, and Average Wind, the first of a multi-part series in partnership with Northern Illinois energy utility ComEd. This report was made possible through the Center of Climate Resilience and Decision Science, which provides “information that will help communities identify vulnerabilities and plan for resilience to the impacts of climate change.” Researchers compared and analyzed certain climate indicators between the 1995-2004 and 2045-2054 time periods. Due to the supercomputing resources at Argonne, more powerful predictions were made due to the data having higher fidelity at the local scale. The second partner report is expected to cover “the future impact of other climate-related variables such as flooding, precipitation, ice storms, lightning and thunderstorms.” Read more at Argonne National Laboratory.
