A recent survey conducted by MITRE and the Harris Poll reveals that a significant portion of the U.S. population is concerned about the nation’s critical infrastructure, with cyberattacks being considered the greatest risk.

The Poll was conducted online February 13-15, this year, among 2,046 U.S. adults (ages 18 and over) by The Harris Poll on behalf of MITRE. The survey described critical infrastructure as “the systems, facilities, and services that are vital for the functioning of our society and economy such as energy, water, transportation, communications, healthcare, and financial systems.” In choosing the top 3 sections of critical infrastructure that would most impact daily life if attacked, 57 percent said water and wastewater was the top choice, making it the second highest ranked section following 69 percent who said energy.
