EPA Webinar – Analysis of Online Water Quality Data (Tuesday, August 14, 2018, 1:00 – 2:00 PM ET)

On August 14, EPA will conduct a webinar comprised of two presentations. The first presentation will describe methods for conducting an exploratory analysis of historical water quality data collected from a water distribution system using online monitoring instruments. The purpose of an exploratory analysis is to characterize normal baseline conditions and identify the causes of normal changes in distribution system water quality at monitored locations.

EPA Webinar - Communications Systems for Smart Utility Infrastructure (Thursday, July 17, 2018; 1:00 - 2:00 PM ET)

On July 17, EPA will conduct a webinar on considerations for evaluating and selecting data communications systems that meet the unique requirements of smart utility infrastructure, including remote water quality and security monitoring equipment. During this webinar, the Metropolitan Sewer District of Greater Cincinnati will present a case study about its smart sewer network. A flyer posted below provides additional information on this webinar.

Water Quality Surveillance and Response Program (US EPA)

U.S. EPA's Water Quality Surveillance and Response Program provides utilities with the resources to learn about, assess the feasibility of, and implement a surveillance and response system (SRS). An SRS provides a framework for enhancing distribution system monitoring capabilities to detect water quality issues and respond before they become problems.

EPA Releases Guidance for Online Monitoring of Source Water Quality

U.S. EPA has published a guide for monitoring the quality of source water with online tools. According to EPA, source water monitoring (SWM) can be implemented into a water quality surveillance and response system (SRS). The guide covers best practices and lessons learned from existing SWM systems. The guide is one of many SRS resources being produced under the Water Security Division’s Water Quality Surveillance and Response program.
