Wildfires Threatening Water Availability in the Northeast, as Fires Rage Coast to Coast

A series of wildfires are spreading across the Northeast due to unusual drought conditions that have persisted for weeks. These weather conditions, combined with higher-than-average temperatures, have created a large amount of dry undergrowth that help fuel the spread and intensity of wildfires. In the Western U.S., wildfires are also burning in multiple states, including California and Oregon.

Reminder November is Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience: Take Advantage of CISA’s Resources to Boost Resilience

CISA officially kicked off Critical Infrastructure Security and Resilience (CISR) Month last week, which occurs every November. This month, CISA is continuing with its enduring theme of Resolve to be Resilient. Throughout this month, WaterISAC will share free CISA resources that water and wastewater utilities can utilize to enhance their security and resilience.

EPA's Creating Resilient Water Utilities (CRWU) Initiative is excited to offer a new, free webinar series sharing climate adaptation stories of drinking water and wastewater utilities. With many natural hazards becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change, utilities are encouraged to attend these information sessions and learn how other utilities are strengthening their resilience in today’s changing climate.
