CISA and ONCD Release Playbook for Strengthening Cybersecurity in Federal Grant Programs for Critical Infrastructure

On Tuesday, CISA and the Office of the National Cyber Director (ONCD) published a Playbook for Strengthening Cybersecurity in Federal Grant Programs for Critical Infrastructure. The playbook is designed to assist grant-making agencies to incorporate cybersecurity into their grant programs and assist grant-recipients to build cyber resilience into their grant-funded infrastructure projects.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Water and Wastewater Utilities

UPDATE - December 2024

On December 18, 2024, WaterISAC unveiled the fourth and final set of three of its newly updated 12 Cybersecurity Fundamentals for Water and Wastewater Utilities to members during this month's Cyber Resilience Briefing. As part of a concerted effort to provide the water and wastewater systems sector with the most up-to-date guidance, WaterISAC is excited to officially bring this refresh together in it's entirety. 

Threat Awareness – HiatusRAT Actors Targeting Chinese-Branded Web Cameras and DVRs

WaterISAC is sharing this (TLP:CLEAR) Private Industry Notification (PIN) for member awareness. The FBI is highlighting the HiatusRAT1 scanning campaigns against Chinese-branded web cameras and DVRs. Private sector partners are encouraged to implement the recommendations listed in the “Mitigation” column of the report to reduce the likelihood and impact of these attack campaigns.

CISA and EPA Release Joint Fact Sheet Detailing Risks Internet-Exposed HMIs Pose to Water and Wastewater Sector

CISA and the EPA recently released a joint fact sheet titled “Internet-Exposed HMIs Pose Cybersecurity Risks to Water and Wastewater Systems.” The fact sheet offers guidance to water and wastewater systems organizations on how to minimize the exposure of human-machine interfaces and protect them from cyber threats.
