FEMA has released an updated set of 48 Core Capability Development sheets that can be of assistance to emergency managers and practitioners as they build and improve their programs. They are organized by each of FEMA’s five mission areas – prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery – and provide information and resources regarding the capabilities that are essential to each area. For example, the prevention area includes the capabilities of planning; public information and warning; operational coordination; intelligence and information sharing; interdiction and disruption; screening, search, and detection; and forensics and attribution. For each of these capabilities, as well as the others included in the other mission areas, the sheets capture the definition and associated tasks, relevant trainings, example capability targets, typed resources, critical planning partners, validation techniques, and additional organizations that can support the development of the capability. Access the documents at FEMA.
