FEMA has announced the release of the latest versions of ICS 300: Intermediate Incident Command System for Expanding Incidents and ICS 400: Advanced Incident Command System for Complex Incidents (the link is to FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute, where the ICS 300 and ICS 400 courses are available), which are replacements for the 2013 versions. These courses contain new information based on the third edition of the National Incident Management System (NIMS), which was released in October 2017. ICS 300 is designed to provide training on and resources for overall incident management skills for personnel who require intermediate application of ICS. ICS 400 is designed for experienced responders and other senior emergency management personnel who may perform in a management capacity for major or complex incidents (Type 1 or Type 2 incidents). For those who have completed a previous version of the courses, there is not a FEMA requirement to take the revised version of the course. However, FEMA notes it may be informative to review the new versions. For more on this topic, go o FEMA's ICS Resource Center.
