On Monday, the Australian Cyber and Infrastructure Security Centre (CISC) unveiled an enhanced self-assessment tool called the Organisational Resilience HealthCheck Tool along with a refreshed “Organisational Resilience: Good Practice Guide” to complement it. The tool is based on modern resilience methodologies designed to strengthen organizational resilience against threats and encourages users to evaluate and rate organizational readiness across 13 resilience indicators. Moreover, the Good Practice Guide provides users with access to contemporary guidance using real-world examples and introduces an Organizational Resilience Maturity Framework, a modified version of the UN’s Organizational Resilience Maturity Model which has four levels of organizational maturity:

  • Developing
  • Establishing
  • Advancing
  • Generative

Upon completing the self assessment tool, organizations will automatically receive a HealthCheck Tool Results Report, which gives the overall stage rating of either Developing, Establishing, Advancing, or Generative as well as the stage rating for each of the 13 resilience indicators. This kind of guidance provides a valuable overview of an organization’s security posture as well as clear direction for where cybersecurity efforts should be focused.
