With organizations moving closer to bringing more employees back into the workplace, it’s increasingly important that they institute controls to help reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19. Both the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) encourage workplaces to implement measures regarding air filtration and circulation. To help organizations understand how these measures could actually be implemented, design and architecture firm Gensler has published an air filtration primer for building owners. The primer discusses three ways to potentially mitigate airborne pathogens within a mechanical system: trap it (filtration), kill it (disinfection), or flush it ventilation. It also includes a section discussing design considerations for new buildings. This primer is part of an ongoing Gensler series about how buildings are being designed to respond to the circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic. Read the primer at Gensler.
