Water Sector Natural Disaster Threat Briefing - Managing the Inferno: Lessons Learned from the January 2025 Los Angeles Wildfires

Wednesday, August 13, 2025; 2-3pm ET

On August 13 at 2 pm ET, WaterISAC will convene the next event in its quarterly Water Sector Natural Disaster Threat Briefings. This webinar will focus on the January 2025 Los Angeles wildfires and what lessons water and wastewater utilities can learn from this disaster. Around the globe, wildfires are becoming more frequent and intense due to a combination of rising temperatures, drier landscapes, accumulated fuels, and expanded human presence in fire-prone areas. Amid this new reality, water and wastewater utilities are at a greater risk of operational disruptions from wildfires.

To help owners and operators enhance the operational resilience of their utility, WaterISAC is excited to welcome Ian Whyte, the Emergency Management Program Manager, at the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, which is one of the largest water utilities in the country. Ian will discuss his utility’s initial response to the wildfires, managing an emergency operations center, recovery efforts, and detail lessons learned and best practices that were uncovered over the course of the disaster.

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from your peers and enhance your utility’s operational resilience towards wildfires.

WaterISAC members only.

Register any time. No need to cancel if you can’t attend.
